It is an ancient and highly a special ritual in which a person donates items equivalent to the body weight. The word Tula means a weighing scale and Daan means donation. It symbolizes self sacrifice humility and generosity
In this the person sits on one side of a large balance scale and on other side offerings like clothes, jaggery, grains, pulses or other items are placed until the scale balances the person’s weight. This offerings are than donated to the needy population
